Family events are special events. From family reunions to an aniversary party, they all have a very special place in our lives that should be recorded. Company parties, official meetings, an awards presentation are all important parts of our lives worthy of recording. The only event I don't do is weddings.
There are several different methods of going about these events, and all have their place. There really is no one right way to do an event, but there probably is a best way for your particular event. It is up to us to work together to figure out what is best for your needs.
One method of dealing with an event is to have a single group photo taken, with a copy of the photo selected by the group leader being available for everyone. This is much easier for the group leader, but may miss a great number of images that would one day be family heirlooms.
Another way to deal with events is to have every family group sit for a formal portrait and then take a group photo of everyone. A backdrop and studio lighting is brought to the location and each family gets a memory as well as the group photo with everyone. More headaches for the leader, but each family gets their own memory.
Another common method of event photography is to let me become the fly on the wall. No posing is done, unless its for an overall group photo. The goal is to photograph people having a good time at an event. This is particularly effective in the business environment, and can be combined with the presentation photo ect for a nice package for the business event.
These are just suggestions to think about. No two events are the same. That's ok. The idea isn't to have some prepackaged one size fits all plan. You don't plan your event based on how other people run their company outing. Why should your photos be different?? What works for me isn't nearly as important as what works for you. I would be happy to answer your questions and come up with a plan to meet the needs of your unique event.
